From flesh eating bacteria fears to fiancés
It started with a Hinge conversation…
…about a flesh eating bacteria infection (Akkad’s irrational fear). Joey had listened to a podcast about them. That conversation led to a first date at La Colombe, and it went so well that coffee turned into drinks.
A relationship flourished
Our love blossomed, and so did a global pandemic. Covid isolation gave us plenty of time to get to know each other. And gave us quite the travel bug. From the Southwest and Canada to P-town and Europe, our relationship has been one big adventure.
Come to think of it, we still need to re-book that canceled Puerto Rico trip…
The adventure continues
Eventually rings were bought. Akkad proposed in a sentimental moment after brunch with friends in P-town. Not to be outdone, Joey designed a DC walking tour through our relationship and popped the question at the La Colombe where it all began. Here’s to a lifetime of love and adventures!
